We had an old HP Camera that was only 2mp and went through batteries like they where nothing. So we decided to get a camera that offers more mega pixels and better optical zoom for taking all those baby pictures. We where looking at the z712 but heard the z812 was coming out so we waited. We could not ask for anything more with this camera. It was easy to use and the pictures are great. We haven't had the time to mess with all the settings but right out of the box you could take excellent pics. If your looking for a camera that is not to cheap and not to expensive get this one you will be happy with the choice.
